Born in Toronto in 1958, lived there until 1990 and in the environs of Boston ever since. Took a degree in metallurgy and materials science but ended up as a UNIX administrator with a specialization in getting people to talk to each other. This has since turned into a management gig at Tufts University.
A long-time science fiction fan, I've lately taken to mining the Elizabethan drama corpus for plots to re-use in outer space. Work on "Every Man in His Space-Suit" proceeds slowly but unsteadily.
I will generally add people I know to my Friends list when I discover that they're LJing, also am likely to Friend reciprocally with people who Friend, though I sometimes hang back mutually Friending people I work with or people I've known for a long time, for various long-time reasons. I have only one Friends-filter, set for cow-orker/non-cow-orker, maybe some day I'll have none.
